Soft Trekking

Lonely Relics on a Charming Mountain

(Cetho – Sukuh Temple – Tawangmangu Waterfall Trekking)

Around 40 kilometers to the east of Solo we have found the most idyllic location for our soft trekking program. At the western slope of mount Lawu at an altitude of 1400 Meters above Sea level, lay two famous and beautiful temples. Less known indeed than the Borobudur and Prambanan but certainly worth a visit and combine it with some soft trekking in the spectacular surroundings of Central Java.

We start the day and bring you to the Cethu temple. This Hindu temple was built in the last period of the Majapahit Kingdom and after you had the opportunity to visit and enjoy the temple at your own pace, we will start our 2-3 hours walk from Cetho towards the Sukuh temple.

Our soft trek is the ideal way to enjoy the splendor of Central Java. Small mountain roads, fantastic views over the area, you will need both of your eyes (and plenty of space on your digital camera) to let it all soak in.

Once we arrive at Candi Sukuh there will be time enough to visit this very special Hindu temple with it’s particular pyramid shape, something that makes it unique for Indonesia. Some sculptures date back to the 16th century and still many things remain unexplained at Candi Sukuh even until today.  A perfect place to recover from the first part of our trek.

If you still have the energy and want to continue trekking we can take you on an additional 2 hours of walking to a beautiful waterfall. (Or if you prefer we can do this part on the following day). During this mountain trek you will be surrounded by beautiful views of green hills and and the clean river at the mountain slope.
.

If you are lucky we well be rewarded with a stunning sunset when we return to Sukuh Village where we stay overnight.

We look forward to you for joining our soft trekking tour programs. This soft trekking is suitable for everyone in reasonable shape. We strongly recommend to bring good walking shoes if you intend to include the soft trekking program in your itinerary.
